Halloween with Older Kids

The past couple of weeks, I have talked about the amazing Pumpkin Patches we have in the area. While these are great fun for the younger kids or us, "kids at heart", the older kids usually want something a little more challenging or should I just say plain scary. Although I have to admit as much as I love horror movies, going to a haunted house has never been my thing, so this blog is based upon my kids' experiences.

My boys love the Kitsap Haunted Fairgrounds. The hours are 6-11 every Friday and Saturday night in October and on Halloween. For the younger kids who like to be scared but with the "Lights On", they have a special time set aside just for them during 5-6 pm.

It has been described to me, that "it is like of like a maze where you go from room to room through three buildings". In each new area there is always something to frighten you and lots of scary noises. Every year there is a new theme to scare all. Past years there were dolls, clowns and zombies and more. This year it is Hospital, Asylum and Research Facility that you will be entering if you dare.

They are looking for actors to volunteer their time. One of my sons and several of his friends did this. He had a lot of fun and they get food. Great incentive for almost any teen I know. They provide makeup and costumes as well.

I most likely will NOT be seeing you there, but if you go, I hope you make it back out. LOL

One more tip: If you bring a canned food item to donate you get $1 off the ticket price.
