One, two, three strikes. . .
Our kids swim all year so when a family friend, who hosts one of the Blue Jacket players, invited me and one of my sons to watch a game Friday night, we definitely said yes! We have went to a few "live" games and have seen baseball on TV, but nothing is better than watching baseball in person and it is something we don't have the opportunity to do very often.
The first thing I noticed were the ticket prices. If you have a large family like ours and even if you don't, cost is always an issue. Standard seating was only $5 and Premium seating was $10. My first thought was this is cheaper than taking the kids to a movie and is more interactive too! Further research has shown me that if you buy a family Combo, you can get hot dogs, chips and water thrown in for the $10 premium price. That is pretty cool. The evening that we went wasn't too hot and was even somewhat cool (so bring a jacket). It wasn't packed with people, which was nice because we could sit where we wanted. Great seats! They had lots of fun activities during the innings as well as music for the players. My son and I had a fun time cheering on the team. He caught 2 balls which they encourage the kids to turn in for Blue Jacket Bucks The bucks are used for a discount on concessions, so he had some chips with cheese. There were pretty good!
For adults, they also offer wine and beer. I am kind of a beer snob and stay away from Coors and Bud Light, so I was very pleased to see that they also offered 2 local beers from Silver City-Nice Day and Ridgetop Red. All of the people who worked that evening were so nice and friendly and made us feel totally at home. It was a fun night and a great place to take the kids!
As we were leaving the field at the end of the evening, they had all the players lined up so their fans could go by, shake their hands and get their autographs. It was fun watching all the kids go up to the players -big smiles even though they didn't win that evening.
If you would like to go watch a game, you are still in luck there are a few games left in the season of this local past-time fun. http://www.bluejacketbaseball.com/2016-schedule/
